Green morning!

Green morning!

Recently I had the opportunity to give a talk to a wonderfully engaged group of senior citizens. At the end of the talk I offered green smoothies. They loved the smoothies and many of them asked for seconds! It was so exciting to see older people trying new foods in an effort to boost health and vitality. I only hope I have the same vivacity when I’m their age!

In my opinion, green smoothies are the best way to start the day. Packed with phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber, they are a delicious, fresh, vegan, whole-foods alternative to heavy breakfasts. These green smoothies fill you up and provide loads of energy, without weighing you down. You’ll taste the fruit and won’t believe you just at an entire cup of one of the healthiest greens on the planet!

Where else can you get so many vitamins, fiber, minerals and phytonutrients in a great tasting, whole foods breakfast with only 250 calories and 4 grams of fat?

Give these a try!

2 cups water
1 orange, peeled
1 apple, cored and roughly chopped
1 banana, peeled
1 cup frozen mango chunks
2 cups chopped, fresh kale, firmly packed
1/2 lemon, peeled
2 tablespoons lecithin
2 tablespoons agave

Put all ingredients into a high-speed blender and process until smooth.

Serving Size: makes 2 quart-sized servings

Number of Servings: 2
